Good Day Vondelingers,

It’s always great to get the last of the grapes off, pressed, and put to bed. We all think it was a very good harvest and expectations are high that 2022 will be a very good vintage. The proof will be in the tasting. Let’s wait and see. The early autumn colours are beautiful, and the cleared blocks have been deeply ploughed and are ready for planting come July.

Because of the long growing season, we have had this year, the winemakers have been very pleased with the quality of the grapes. Here are some Cabernet Sauvignon just received at the premium cellar and about to go through the de-stemmer and into the open tank fermenters.

Winemaker Emile, also had some help from his daughter Anna, when they had to go and offload stalks with the tractor and trailer.

We are all very much looking forward to the Easter break and a well-earned rest. Last week the cellar rats went to the top of the mountain to celebrate the end of harvest and a job well done.
